Ruijie wireless products have always adhered to the concept of "scenario-based innovation", and the new generation of Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 products continue to embrace this idea. Some institutions predicted that in 2019, start year of the Wi-Fi 6 era, the shipment of Wi-Fi 6 APs (Wi-Fi 6 infrastructure) would account for 20% of the total AP shipment and 50% by 2020. Ruijie released its first Wi-Fi 6 product in the second half of 2018, and now has released a full range of Wi-Fi 6 products from industrial-grade to enterprise-grade and further to commercial-grade. This full range of products cover the industry's highest-performance wired/wireless dual 10G flagship products, panel-type products targeted for hotels, business environments, and dormitories, as well as highly reliable outdoor products. Ruijie aims to help enterprise customers build a Wi-Fi 6 network which will be technologically advanced in the next several years through the full range of Wi-Fi 6 wireless AP products.

Continuous improvement in three core technical fields

Is Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 just a technical upgrade of Wi-Fi 5? Of course not. Wi-Fi 6 actually brings more possibilities to Ruijie. Since launching, Ruijie wireless products have been continuously improved in three core technical fields, including RF design, service focusing, and dynamic network optimization. Ruijie's RF design team conducts field surveys and emulation in various scenarios, so as to provide optimal antenna designs and signal coverage solutions. Service focusing requires Ruijie engineers to identify different service requirements of customers in various sectors, so as to design software functions and scheduling priorities. Dynamic network optimization is an automatic network optimization solution proposed by Ruijie based on the uncertainty of RF environments. With the continuous improvement in this aspect, Ruijie launched the WIS AI cloud platform, which currently serves more than 300 million users. The WIS AI cloud is built on massive big data from the WIS cloud platform. Ruijie establishes user experience models based on big data to continuously optimize and feed back wireless experience.

What are the improvements made by Ruijie in the three core technical fields in the Wi-Fi 6 era?

Extraordinary observation on network environments for RF and antenna optimization

Ultimate experience requires extraordinary environment observation. Dating back to 2011 when the industry put its focus on parameters, Ruijie wireless engineers already gained deep insights into the dormitory environments in campuses. Ruijie was the first to attach importance to the philosophy that wireless products must match customer scenarios, and made its contribution to the industry with the i-Share series products, which are the most suitable for cellular networks for dormitories. Afterwards, Ruijie also developed RF solutions that best match environments in the medical, warehousing, hotel, and transportation sectors. For example, in the education sector, Ruijie designed interference solutions for dormitories in high-density cellular network environments. In the metro and high-speed railway sector, Ruijie identified features of wireless transmission in the tunnel and high-speed running environments, and formulated best-match solutions based the RF design.

Today, the Wi-Fi 6 era will impose higher requirements on reliability and stability of wireless networks as wireless technologies have been introduced into production networks. In the construction of intelligent factories, where wireless networks are used for production data transmission, Ruijie engineers found abundant metal from rows of machine tools in the factories and workshops. As known, metal can cause a great loss to wireless signals. Therefore, how to ensure transmission reliability in these environments, and how to implement millisecond-level delay and zero packet loss to support continuous production services? For this scenario, Ruijie wireless engineers simulated various scenarios and conducted tens of thousands of experiments, and finally launched the multi-antenna-element scenario-based smart antennas to handle signal transmission in these high reliability-needed environments.

Product functions focusing on service requirements

Ultimate experience also needs focuses on service requirements. Ruijie designed targeted solutions for various service requirements after analyzing infrastructure network requirements of teaching, office, warehousing, hotels, and enterprises, including delay and mobility requirements and usage-related requirements such as security isolation, access mode, right division, and fast networking, as well as value-adding requirements on wireless networks such as marketing.

In the Wi-Fi 6 era, service requirements still need to be focused. For example, teaching becomes increasingly informationized in schools as high-definition videos, wireless screen display, VR, student self-study applications, and interactive classroom applications are introduced, which cause growing load to the wireless networks. These services feature high-density concurrency and require high reliability without network interruption. If a network is interrupted, a teaching accident is directly caused. To meet this service requirement, Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 identifies the service types and optimizes the packet scheduling mode, so as to support concurrent HD video display on up to 15 screens without interruption.

Dynamic optimization capability for continuous iterations

Ultimate experience further needs the dynamic optimization capability for continuous iterations. Ruijie was the first to promote the idea of feeding back the actual network status based on user experience instead of merely the device running indicators. It then launched its WIS to enable visualized wireless networks. WIS 1.0 implements network-wide visualization and optimization, and WIS 2.0 can model and optimize wireless experience based on big data.

In the Wi-Fi 6 era, Ruijie launched WIS 3.0 on the foundation of further iterations on WIS with the help of Wi-Fi 6. In the new Wi-Fi generation, a packet loss can be identified during packet transmission, which, however, can be determined only after all the packets are transmitted in Wi-Fi 5. As such, the overall network policy can be quickly adjusted based on real-time feedback on links between the terminals and the devices for a millisecond-level network adjustment. The implementation principle is as follows: Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) of Wi-Fi 6 supports multiple subcarriers and allows dynamically adjusting scheduling of each subcarrier. Therefore, the entire network can be adjusted at the millisecond level, and production services and teaching services with high reliability requirements can be truly supported.

To sum up, Ruijie Wi-Fi 6 is extremely reliable by enabling wireless networks to carry critical production services based on the scenario-based smart antennas, full-stack high-reliability protocols, and AI-based millisecond-level fault perception and recovery.
